MEN’S SHED JULY 2019

WISEMANS FERRY MEN’S SHED DONATIONS AND ASSISTANCE WOULD BE APPRECIATED

This month we wish to show readers that we are involved in a new avenue of community support with mental health at the forefront. It involves a single person living under very basic conditions. This person is in their 60’s and had moved into our district for a less expensive lifestyle. They subsequently purchased a block of land on a rocky escarpment and sought out a builder to construct a “granny flat style cabin”.

However, funds quickly dwindled which only allowed a rectangular one room cabin leaving insufficient funds to complete the fit-out and thus this person was left with a small 200 L water tank, no electricity, no septic system, no bathroom , kitchen or steps to access the elevated block. This person has to scale a steep incline using  spaced rocks while holding onto a rope to climb the incline to the cabin.Once we became aware of this situation, we at the Shed immediately started constructing a set of steps to make access easier and these we will install in the next few weeks.

Immediate application and assistance was provided by us to get the electricity connected by the end of next week. This is only the beginning of our efforts to bring some comfort to this person, especially during these cold months. This leads us to make a request to all district businesses and generous persons that can donate some form of help in the way of goods and services. Please ring Adrian Acheson (President) on 0448833781 for any further information.

UPDATE  ON PLANNED WALKING AND EXERCISE TRACK.

We also bring you an update on the latest news of the planned concrete walking track and exercise areas. The application for the grant has progressed to “second base” and it needs your support by going online to support our application. You can vote at mycommunityproject.service.nswgov.au For more information on how to vote, visit nsw.gov.au/mycommunityproject.

We really need your help to support this project by logging on and voting. The projects that receive the most online support will receive the grant, so please take a minute out of your day and vote for us. We have put in a massive effort in getting this far and the result would mean a great asset to our community. Our Shed computer is available Tuesdays and Saturdays for those without computer access.
