Bring your own or hire.
Kayaks Wisemans ferry are a few good spots to launch your own kayak. Try the beach at the park behind the Convict Kiosk.  There is the public boat ramp on Old Northern Road.

YOu can visit one of the ski parks – they may charge a fee to use their boat ramp!
Kayak are available to hire now from Able Hawkesbury Houseboats

Single or double kayak are available, phone 02 4044 0356 to check availability and book.

Kayaks can be hired from 8:45am and must be returned no later than 4:45pm

WHAT TO BRING:

Paddling clothes (rash vest, board shorts, hat)
Drinking water
Sunscreen and towel
Thermal top, wind breaker (on cooler days)
Dry change of clothes for after the paddle

KAYAK HIRE LIMITATIONS

Kayak are picked up from the Able Houseboat Marina, kayak are restricted to Webb’s Creek, the MacDonald River and not beyond the Wisemans Ferry Ferry.

Kayaking is only recommended if you can swim
Do not kayak if you are have a pre-existing medical condition
Wear your life jacked (PFD) at all times
Keep clear of marinas and middle channels
Paddle close to the shoreline as much as possible as there is less current
Be aware of the tides and what time they will be changing
Cross channels at right angles and by the shortest distnce only when it is safe
Give way to all motoring craft and car ferry’s
Keep aware of the changing weather conditions
If you do not feel confidant return to Able Hawkesbury River marina
Please advise our staff where you are going to paddle
Beware of rocks/sticks on river banks
Do not separate from your group
Keep clear of larger vessels – cross behind them, not in front
Know your limitations

POLICY – RENTING KAYAKS WITH CHILDREN (2012)

Children between 3 years and 5 years of age are able to be taken kayaking ONLY in the double kayak (with child seat) with TWO adults

Children between 6 years and 13 years of age can paddle in and double kayak with ONE other adult

Children between 14 years and 17 years of age are able to paddle a single kayak if there is an adult paddling with them (The adult MUST stay within 10 meters of this child at all times)

There MUST be ONE adult for every THREE children paddling in single kayak

An adult needs to read and sign our Indemnity Form on behalf of the children in their care.

Stricter weather restrictions are enforced under this policy.
